Nollywood Actress Tonto Dikeh Called to Appear in Abuja Court for Alleged Assault and Criminal Trespass
Abuja, August 10, 2024—Nollywood actress and politician Tonto Dikeh, along with her bodyguard, Gbenga, has been summoned by the Chief Magistrate’s Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, facing allegations of assault and criminal trespass.
According to Gistlover, a court summons dated August 6, 2024, requires Dikeh and Gbenga to appear in court on August 24, 2024, to address the charges. The case, designated CR/359/2024, was initiated by Elvis Abuyere, CEO of Skyewise Group Limited and owner of an Abuja-based car dealership.
The dispute reportedly began in January when Dikeh sought to purchase a Changan Uni-K 2023 model from Mikano Motors through Abuyere’s dealership. Abuyere, who has a partnership with Mikano, paid N85 million upfront for the vehicle, with Dikeh agreeing to pay the remaining balance in installments over three months.
Dikeh initially paid N37 million as a deposit on a used 2008/2009 Lexus and an additional N3.5 million. However, she allegedly failed to pay the remaining balance by the end of April, breaching the agreement. On May 1, Abuyere repossessed the vehicle after unsuccessful attempts to collect the outstanding amount. Although Dikeh later made several payments totaling N42 million, a balance of N2.1 million remained.
The situation escalated on July 30 when Dikeh reportedly requested servicing for the car. After repairs, the dealership asked for the remaining N2.7 million. Dikeh is accused of forcibly entering the dealership’s premises in Maitama, Abuja, with her bodyguard and two other women, committing "criminal trespass."
She also faces accusations of assaulting Abuyere and other dealership employees, disrupting business operations, damaging property, and threatening to use social media to damage the company's reputation.
