International Youth Day: Tinubu hails creative genius of Nigerian youths

President Bola Tinubu praised Nigeria’s youth for their creativity and resilience in his message commemorating this year’s International Youth Day, observed on August 12.

In his statement, conveyed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu highlighted the youth’s innovative energy and their role in driving digital adoption, trends, and innovation both within Nigeria and on the global stage.

The tribute, titled ‘President Tinubu Hails Creative Zeal of Nigerian Youths to Digitally Innovate Nigeria to Prosperity and Global Acclaim,’ emphasized the President's commitment to supporting the aspirations of young Nigerians. “On this special occasion to celebrate the youth, President Tinubu assures Nigerians that his administration is here to make their dreams come alive in a sustainably expanding, inclusive economy,” Ngelale stated.

Aligning with the 2024 theme, ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,’ Tinubu affirmed that Nigeria’s youth possess the exceptional spirit and potential needed to transform the nation through digital innovation, leading to prosperity and global recognition.

“The President acknowledges the strides of the youth in diverse spheres, particularly in developing billion-dollar technologies and innovations that contribute to global prosperity and progress,” the statement continued.

Tinubu also commended the creativity of Nigerian youth across various sectors, from a young content creator in Ebute Metta using a ring light and camera to earn a legitimate income, to an entrepreneur in Aba producing unique fashion pieces, and a young innovator in Kano advancing sustainable agriculture through agro-technology.

In his efforts to harness the creative talents of the youth, Tinubu’s administration has relaunched the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund under the Federal Ministry of Youth Development. This N110 billion fund is dedicated to empowering youth in key sectors to drive sustainable economic growth and development.

Additionally, programs such as the Digital and Creative Enterprises Programme, the 3 Million Technical Talents Scheme, the Skill-Up Artisans Programme, and the National Youth Talent Export Programme are designed to empower young Nigerians and create millions of IT and technical jobs, making them globally competitive.
