Gallagher set for €42m Atlético Madrid move

Conor Gallagher is on the brink of completing a move to Atlético Madrid, with Chelsea authorising the midfielder to travel to Madrid within the next 24 to 48 hours.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Monday via X, the deal is already sealed for a €42 million fee, with Atlético’s manager Diego Simeone playing a key role in pushing for the transfer.

Gallagher, a product of Chelsea’s youth academy, has impressed during his time on loan at various Premier League clubs, including Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion.

Known for his energy, work rate, and box-to-box abilities, the 24-year-old has been a standout performer, earning him a call-up to the England national team.

Romano said, “Understand Conor Gallagher has been authorized by Chelsea to travel to Madrid in next 24/48hrs. Deal was already done for €42m fee and Simeone was pushing again for it. All done between Gallagher and Atléti, all done between Atléti and Chelsea. Here we go, confirmed.”

With all terms agreed between Gallagher and Atlético, as well as between the Spanish club and Chelsea, the transfer is now imminent.

Gallagher’s move marks a significant step in his career as he prepares to embark on a new challenge in La Liga under the guidance of Simeone.

Meanwhile, Chelsea is on the brink of securing a deal to bring Joao Felix back to Stamford Bridge. The negotiations with Atlético Madrid have reached the final stages, with only a few details left to finalise.
