Observe the events that occurred to the girl in Ogun
Chaos erupted in Itori town, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State on Tuesday following the discovery of the lifeless body of a missing one-year-old girl, Janet Ajayi, in a well. According to information obtained from the Ogun State Police Command, Ajayi, who had been missing since January 6, 2023, was found floating inside a well located in the neighboring compound of her parents.
In the wake of this tragic discovery, three individuals reportedly sustained injuries when some people, believed to be residents of the compound where the infant's body was found, were allegedly attacked. Ajayi's mother, Daramola, had informed the police that the one-year-old girl was playing outside their compound while she went inside to fetch some clothes for her. Upon returning, she was shocked to find her baby missing from where she had left her.
Daramola raised an alarm, prompting neighbors and passersby to join in the search for the infant. Unfortunately, the search concluded with the heartbreaking discovery of the lifeless body floating in a nearby well. This grim find resulted in violence and attacks on certain individuals in the community.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Odutola Omolola, confirmed the incident on Wednesday, stating that the injured residents had been taken to the hospital for treatment. She noted that the parents had taken the body for burial against the police's recommendation for an autopsy. As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
It is worth recalling a similar incident in the town involving two individuals who drowned in a river identified as Femi Akinola and Tunde Falade.
