JUST IN: Tinubu appoints board members for hajj commission

President Bola Tinubu granted his approval on Wednesday for the appointment of 11 individuals who will form the new board and management team for the National Hajj Commission. These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Nigerian Senate.

The decision to make these appointments stems from President Tinubu's commitment to ensuring a smooth and trouble-free execution of the 2024 Hajj operations, as revealed in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale. The official announcement is titled 'President Tinubu appoints National Hajj Commission Board and Management team.'

Among the appointees are Jalal Arabi, who took on the role of Chairman in October of the previous year, Aliu Abdulrazaq as Commissioner for Policy, Personnel, and Finance, Anofi Elegushi as Commissioner for Operations, and Prof. Abubakar Yagawal as the Commissioner for Planning and Research.

Additionally, the President appointed representatives at the zonal level, including Dr. Muhammad Ndagi (North Central), Abba Kala (North East), Muhammad Bin Othman (North West), Tajudeen Abefe (South West), and Aishat Ahmed (South East). Others include Zainab Musa (South-South), Prof. Musa Fodio representing the Jama’atul Nasril Islam, and Prof. Adedimizi Adebola from the Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs.

Ngelale conveyed that President Tinubu has tasked these appointees with dedicating themselves to the responsibility of enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness of the National Hajj Commission to the needs of Nigerians.
