Emmanuel Ijewere, a prominent figure within the Labour Party and a close associate of presidential candidate Peter Obi, has passed away. Renowned for his pivotal role in the Labour Party's presidential campaign council and his strong affiliation with the Obidient movement, Ijewere was a highly regarded entrepreneur with extensive expertise in banking, finance, and agriculture.

In his capacity as the Chairman of the Big Tent Obi-Datti Independent Campaign Council, Ijewere wielded significant influence in political spheres. Morris Monye, a distinguished member of the LP, sadly announced his demise, expressing grief over the loss and emphasizing Ijewere's exceptional dedication, patience, and wise leadership that left an enduring impact.

Born in 1946, the late Ijewere held prestigious positions such as the former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), the Institute of Directors (IOD), and the Nigerian Red Cross. His national roles included chairing the Agriculture and Food Security Commission as well as the Modified Value Added Tax Committee.

With a notable tenure on the Agricultural Transformation Implementation Council (ATIC) during former President Goodluck Jonathan's leadership, Ijewere also contributed as a resource person on Agriculture for the Buhari Transition committee. Until his passing, he served as the national coordinator of the Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NAGB).
