The Enugu State Police Command apprehended Chukwuebuka Igwebuike for allegedly deceiving unsuspecting traders with counterfeit naira notes in the Afor Market area of Garki Awkunanaw. The Command's spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, revealed on Friday that Igwebuike had amassed fake N362,000, using it to purchase lower-priced goods from traders. He cleverly received the change without raising suspicion. Acting on a tip-off, Awkunanaw Division operatives swiftly arrested Igwebuike, recovering suspected counterfeit N1,000 notes totaling N362,000. The suspect, aged 37, admitted to the crime during preliminary investigations. The Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, emphasized vigilance and urged the public to report any possession or transaction involving counterfeit Naira notes, especially during the festive season. Igwebuike will face prosecution after the investigation concludes.
