Police arrests 24 suspects for drug abuse, social vices in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 24 suspects for offences such as drug abuse and other social vices.

The Kano Command, in a statement on Friday, said the arrests were in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, regarding the promotion of community-based policing and increased round-the-clock visibility patrols.

It added that its officers made the arrests as a part of the Command’s efforts to reduce crimes and criminality, especially the menace of drug abuse and other social vices in all parts of Kano State.

The Kano Police said that the operatives of the command arrested the 24 suspects while carrying out several clearance operations between October 26, 2023 and November 2, 2023.

During this period, a total of twenty-four (24) suspects were arrested for offenses such as drug dealing and other social vices, with the recovery of a quantity of illicit drugs and stolen properties,” it stated.

According to the statement, the drug dealers will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kano Command for further action.

The Kano State Police Command also disclosed that the remaining suspects will be charged to court upon the completion of their investigation.
