Aviation Minister Takes Action To Resolve Unauthorized Charges On Exported Goods

Exporters have raised concerns that exporting 100 tonnes of cargo through Nigerian airports costs over $35,000, while it only costs $3,000 to export the same tonnage in Ghana.
They attributed this price difference to undisclosed and illegal fees charged by government agencies at the airports
During the Aviation Industry Stakeholders’ Forum in Lagos on Saturday, Keyamo announced the committee’s formation with the goal of identifying government agencies involved in these illegal charges.
The committee has a two-week timeline to present its findings and recommendations to the ministry.
The committee comprises members from the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON), the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the National Association of Nigerian Travel Agency (NANTA), ground handlers, and representatives from the ministry.
